We made it.

As I write this little update I am sitting at our dining room table in San Juan, listening to the kids play in the living room with noises of the Dominican surrounding us.  Blaring bachata music from  our neighbors, the occasional chicken squawking and numerous traffic noises. There is one thought that keeps coming back to me.

We are so blessed.

In the humdrum of the day to day it is easy to forget just how blessed we are. Between the to do list that I just cant seem to get ahead of and the family responsibilities of our two young children, it’s easy to be swept into a state of stress.  Yet, when I take the time to look around me….. truly LOOK at my surroundings and the privilege it is to work in the Dominican Republic, there is no denying the Lord’s incredible blessings.  This has been the focus of my personal prayer life, concentrating on thankfulness amid the chaos.

Just before we left the States we had the opportunity to share a meal with all of our supporters.  Talk about blessings! It was  the first time that we had so many people who pray for us, support us financially and share in this mission all under one roof.  It was AWESOME.  Moments like those truly humble us as we get a glimpse of the far-reaching effects of what it means to be a missionary.  This isn’t just about Adam and Jess and what they do….. it’s about US.  It’s about OUR TEAM and the support they provide.  We emotionally couldn’t be here with you.  We spiritually couldn’t be here without you.  And we certainly financially couldn’t be here with you.  So, at the risk of being too repetitive, THANK YOU for keeping us present to your heart and minds. Thank you for your vital support.

Another exciting development before we left the States was the purchase of a our very own vehicle to use here in the DR. We had the pleasure of speaking at St. Mary Student Parish in Ann Arbor last August. Through the generosity of the church and the incredible charitable heart of Deacon Dan Hall at the Pinckney Chrysler dealership, we are awaiting the arrival of our 2012 Jeep Patriot Latitude with 4WD.  Holy smokestacks (as Ben would say)!!  Pinch me… am I dreaming?

This vehicle is a game changer for the ministry and for our family.  For the first time in 10 years we will have our own mode of transportation, a level of independence that we have prayed for over the years.  God is surely watching over our every need!!

This week we have Aquinas College here working in mobile medical clinics and at the preschool.  Please keep them in your prayers! We will update after they leave with photos of their experience.  You can see daily photo updates  from their week at our Facebook page: www.facebook.com/bbohdr

Prayer intentions:
For continued guidance and peace as we seek God's will before our own.

For Dr. Angel as he transitions into a new political role (not yet assigned) and for the coming period of transition.
For Benjamin as he begins school next week!
